We have the award winning author Nathan Lowell on this week! We chat with him about his books and life as a science fiction and fantasy author. Nathan also shares a book recommendation of his own with us. Dave talks about the impending Denver teacher strike and we all get a little fired up. Amy, our Denver Librarian, calls in again this week!
Books recommended this week are: Even the Wingless by MCA Hogarth, When We Were Animals by Joshua Gaylord and American by Day by Derek B. Miller.
In “Library Corner” Amy recommends books about birdwatching based on last week’s read of William Shaw’s The Birdwatcher. She recommends: The Big Year by Mark Obmascik, Steve Burrows “Birder Murder Mystery”, Christine Goff an author with five birder mysteries and the birder mysteries by Ann Cleves. Also recommended is a memoir: H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald.

In New York State, there is a law forbidding public employees (teachers) to strike. The penalty is one day’s pay for each day out. (In addition to the basic pay not earned.) So it’s not in the district’s interest to settle a strike.
